Vaccines and Covid-19 test kits
- COVID vaccination centres to be set up in all provinces for foreign tourists. (ThaiPBS, 25/01/2023) More
- High-risk groups will be the top priority for 2023 Covid jabs. Authorities say 18 million people in high-risk groups will get priority for Covid vaccinations next year, with the number of shots each will receive still to be determined. (Bangkok Post, 11/11/2022) More
- At least 47 privately owned hospitals in major cities will provide the Covid-19 vaccine to children aged six months to four years old for free. (Bangkok Post, 31/10/2022) More
Thailand's state of emergency and regulations
- A Unicef survey released earlier this week reveals that households in Thailand are recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic with significant improvements in jobs and income across all population groups. However, challenges remain in areas of childcare, household debt, and savings, primarily affecting the poorest families with children. (The Nation, 24/05/2023) More
- The Ministry of Education announced a new set of control measures for schools and universities, stating that school closures may no longer be necessary after the coronavirus’ reclassification. (Bangkok Post, 7/10/2022) More
- The government is ready to announce the downgrade of Covid-19 from a dangerous communicable disease to one that is "communicable under surveillance" from Oct 1 2022, said Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. (Bangkok Post, 12/09/2022) More

- Although the hotel business on Koh Chang, one of the most popular beach destinations in Thailand, has not yet recovered from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is confident tourism will pick up in the second half of this year. - The number of Covid-19 cases is continuing to drop across the country, but individuals considered at high risk of contracting the disease should ensure their vaccinations are up to date to prevent hospitalisation and/or death, said permanent secretary for public health, Opas Karnkawinpong, yesterday. - The Public Health Ministry sees the country as almost back to pre-Covid-19 and with adequate health resources to handle any future outbreaks, which are expected to be in the form of small and seasonal waves similar to influenza. (Bangkok Post, 26/09/2022) More
- The National Health Security Office (NHSO) says it will no longer compensate people experiencing side-effects of Covid-19 vaccines, except gold-card universal healthcare members. (Bangkok Post, 12/09/2022) More
2020-2022
- Availability of vaccines as well as fair and equal access to vaccines for foreign nationals in Thailand are becoming an important factor for investment decisions from abroad. This applies to new projects as well as existing operations. GTCC is actively lobbying on behalf of its members. GTCC President Markus Lorenzini has addressed this concern to H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Supattanapong Punmeechaow together with German Ambassador Georg Schmidt. (6 July 2021)
